73 suspects including 22 Afghans held

islamabad - Islamabad police along with Pakistan Rangers and other security agencies on Friday conducted search operation in various areas of Sabzi Mandi Police Station and arrested 73 suspects, including 22 Afghan nationals, said a police spokesman.

Officials of Islamabad police, Pak Rangers and other security agencies took part in the search operation. Furthermore, three bikes were also impounded having no documents.

Meanwhile, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has arrested a gangster involved in snatching bikes, vehicles and also recovered a bike from him.

Following directions of SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani, SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas constituted a special team to trace those involved in snatching vehicles and motorbikes in various areas of the capital. The team apprehended a member of the gang involved in auto and bike theft cases.

Police recovered a motorbike (RIL-8710) stolen from Sarae kharbooza as a case about theft of this motorbike (FIR 221/16) was also registered at Tarnol police station. The nabbed person has been identified as Asif son of Hazrat Khan. Following preliminary investigation from him, efforts are underway to trace his other accomplices.

He confessed involvement of his gang in car lifting activities at the area of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
