KHYBER AGENCY - To sabotage Independence Day celebrations, four suicide bombers were apprehended by political administration in an action carried out in Shahkas area of tehsil Jamrud of Khyber Agency on Friday.

Briefing to the media, Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jamrud, Zia-ur-Rehman Marwat said that last night at 12am on a tip off information, the administration officials along with Khasadar and Levies forces conducted raid on a house located in Shahkas area and arrested four suicide bombers .

Five jackets laden with 25kg explosives and large numbers of ball-bearings were also recovered from their possession, he confirmed.

According to initial reports, the suicide bombers had command and control from Afghanistan and had been assigned the task of targeting government installations, high officials and ceremonies of 14 August in Khyber Agency and Peshawar, he said.

The administration official added that the suicide bombers were in custody of security agencies for further investigation.

It is to be mentioned here that the security agencies after Quetta suicide blast, put the security on high alert in Khyber to avert any untoward incident on Independence Day.
