The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016 has revealed that no Pakistani university could be placed among the top 500 world universities. Pakistan produces about 445,000 university graduates. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) oversees the financial funding, research outputs, and teaching quality in the country.

The authority should pay attention to improving the performance of Pakistani universities in the areas of teaching, research etc. Only two Pakistani universities, Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), could succeed in attaining a place in the top 800 universities of the world.

The education department of our country is in dire need of reform. We need to invest more in research and innovation. Moreover, equality of education needs to be uplifted at all levels of schooling.
