PR QUETTA - Hosts Quetta defeated Chaman to 2-1 clinch the trophy of the PPL Balochistan Football Cup-2016 that concluded at the Ayub Stadium here on Friday.

Quetta was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 500, 000 while Chaman walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 250, 000.

The final was a do and die affair for the traditional rivals in football. Both teams adopted an attacking strategy since the beginning of the match and made a number of forays to exert pressure. Quetta forwards, however, availed the opportunity in the 14th minute when their Midfielder and team captain Nazeer Ahmed beautifully headed the ball into the net on a corner hit from Rajab Ali. In the 20th minute Nazeer again struck through a header to double the lead of his team.

Chaman players tried hard to reduce the deficit throughout the match and made a couple of serious moves which were thwarted by Quetta’s defenders. Quetta’s goalkeeper leapt to save a certain goal in the 43rd minute. Chaman players continued their attacks in the second half as well through Wasey, Ismatullah and international Hayatullah but their passing was wrong, their kicks were saved by the goalkeeper or went over the goal post. Nevertheless, in the 85th minute of the match Hayatullah made a lone efforts from the centre and sprinted to enter in the penalty area where he beat the defender and the goal keeper.–PR

At the end Provincial Sports Minister Mir Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Mohammed Hasani, PPL Managing Director and CEO Syed Wamiq Bkhari and Commander 33rd Div Major General gave away prizes and cash prizes to the players.
