LAHORE - A technical team of World Bank Friday visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry and had an hour-long meeting with LCCI Senior Vice President Almas Hyder. The team comprised of Ciara Mckeon, Tim Vickery and Saima Zuberi.

The team members informed LCCI Senior Vice President Almas Hyder that they are working on the assignment aimed at improving the ability of the private sector to engage effective with policy makers on Business Environment Reform in Punjab and to link it with more efficient FBR process, increased investment and job creation by both local and foreign investors. The mission objectives have direc link with the first result area of jobs and competitiveness program which is aimed at improving investment climate in the province.

They said that main objectives of the mission are to develop an online feedback mechanism for policy makers engaged in business environment reform in Punjab, analyze the existing PPD structure in Punjab with particular references to work being done by IFC, identify main stakeholder groups with Punjab who will be the primary users of the online feedback mechanism, identify the technologies most commonly used by these groups and analyze the extent to which particular stakeholder groups, such as women have equal access.

They said that an online feedback mechanism would be evolved to enable stakeholders to provide information to government about the impact of the business environment and priorities and ideas for the potential reforms.
