LCWU clerks protest against admin

LAHORE - All Pakistan Clerks Association Lahore College of Women University Unit staged a protest demonstration against the varsity administration and in favour of their demands at Shadman Chowk here on Monday. The varsity employees under the banner APCA blocked the Jail Road by burning the tyres. The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against current Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor and former VC Dr Bushra Mateen for not fulfilling their demands. The protesters demanded their group insurance, establishing GP fund, job quota for their children in university, reservation seats for the education of children of employees and house requisition. They also demanded removal of three former Army Officers. While addressing the protesters, Manzar Islam, Nisar Ahmed and Nisar Bazmi alleged that current VC had appointed her relatives on important seats to facilitate them. They said that former VC Bushra Mateen was involved in corruption, alleging that she bought her new house with the amount of house requisition. They further said that they would continue protest until their demands would be fulfilled. On the other hand, LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor addressed a press conference at her office. On the occasion, she said that some politically motivated employees were spoiling the peaceful academic environment of the varsity. She said that according to the university charter no one of the employee was allowed to take part in politics or organisation. To a question about providing varsity premises to APCA, she said APCA office was established before her period. She further said that some of the senior faculty members might be part of the mafia. She said they had set up an enquiry committee to probe the issue that would give its decision on Friday. She said they would take strict action against all those who would be found involved in spoiling peaceful environment of varsity. On the occasion, the VC along with other faculty members condemned the burring of effigy of incumbent VC and former VC by the protesters.
