HAFIZABAD - Punjab Teachers Union Hafizabad chapter has called upon the Education Department to double the conveyance allowance for grade 5 to 15 teachers as the teachers of grade 1 to 4 and 16 to 19 were being given. General Secretary Punjab Teachers Union Riaz Ahmad Tarar while addressing a press conference, said that the conveyance allowance of teachers from 1 to 4 grade was increased from Rs850 to Rs1,700 while grade 16 to 19 teachers, allowance was increased to Rs2,500 to Rs5,000  but the conveyance allowance of teachers of grade 5 to 15 was not raised accordingly which, he said, was discrimination against the teachers of lower grade.

THE CORRUPT WARNED: Newly appointed DCO Farah Masood has warned that zero tolerance would be shown to negligent and corrupt officials.

She made the statement while addressing the department’s heads here the other day. She said that she will not hesitate to make strict decisions against work shirkers.

The DCO said that numerous difficult decisions would be taken for the betterment of masses and all officers should remain prepared for their satisfactory results. She said that excuse of lack of resources will not be accepted in the service delivery to the people and emphasized on teamwork to serve the masses honestly and with dedication.

She directed all the EDOs to ensure improvement in the functioning of their subordinate officers and take positive steps for the welfare of the people.

Additional District Collector Sohail Ahmad Khan, District Officer (Cord) Noman Hafeez, EDO Finance Khawar Kamal, EDO Health Dr Farooq Azam Tarar, EDO Education Dr Muhammad Iqbal Naeem, EDO Community Development Shahzada Khurram and EDO Agriculture Manzoor Hussain were present at the occasion.

FIRE INCIDENT: A man, his wife and minor daughter received serious burns when fire broke out in house in Mohallah Hajipura Sukheke due to gas leakage.

According to police, Rana Shahbaz along with his wife Perveen Akhtar and 4 year old Aqsa were sleeping when fire broke out with a huge explosion and engulfed the whole room instantly causing serious burns.

Injured were rushed to the DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122 but later were referred to Lahore for their critical condition.
