RAWALPINDI - Maryam Nawaz, Chairperson of Prime Minister Youth Business Loan Scheme, has said that the government is going to abolish the condition of demanding cheques equalling the loan by banks from the guarantors of the applicants.

The government of Pakistan would provide this loan to the youth purely on merit basis. The application forms for PM Youth Business Loan scheme are available in more than 400 branches of NBP and First Women's Bank.

She said this in response of tens of hundreds of complaints lodged by the applicants lining up outside National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Branches in Saddar and Commercial Market to get application forms for loan during her surprise visit to the branches on Thursday. The government kept Maryam's visit top secret as no media outlet was informed for the coverage of the event. Moreover, no PML-N local figure was accompanying her except three local workers Aqeel Shaukat, Tanveer Sheikh and Shabbir Shah.

Her sudden arrival also put the bank staffers as well as law enforcement agencies on toes. A foolproof security cover was provided by the LEAs to the convoy of Maryam Nawaz. During her visit to NBP Saddar and Commercial Market branches, Maryam Nawaz interacted with the applicants and got public views about the loan scheme. She was told by the applicants that the demand of cheques by banks from the guarantors was a big joke with poor and helpless loan seekers.
