224 medical graduates receive degrees

Wah cantt - Wah Medical College has contributed tremendously to producing graduates of quality and excellence.
These views were expressed by chief guest Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI(M) Chairman POF Board while addressing the 5th Convocation of Wah Medical College in the newly commissioned auditorium of the college.
The Chairman POF Board felicitated and complimented both the graduates and the faculty for their years of hard work that have led to the realization of their dreams. He emphasised the demanding roles and responsibilities of young graduates as future Health Care Providers and the need of their commitment to raise the quality of healthcare delivered at the community and national level to meet the international standards.
The convocation marked the hailing of degrees for as many as 224 medical graduates of the academic sessions 2008-2013 & 2009-2014 in due recognition of their diligence and dedication. Prof Maj Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences, presided over the convocation and distributed degrees among the successful graduates.
Earlier, Principal Wah Medical College, Maj Gen (Retd) Zia Ullah Khan, HI(M), presented the annual report and admired the commitment and efforts of the Dean Prof Musarat Ramzan and the faculty in training the undergraduate students. He extended congratulations to the graduates whose sheer persistence and toil earned them top positions in University results. The Principal further underscored the vision of Wah Medical College as an institution that actively endeavors to promote a culture of research in addition to employing latest strategies for taking Medical Education to the next level.
Highlighting the contributions of the college to community service, the Principal cited the active role of students under the Community Medicine Department in furthering Health Care Awareness in the form of School Health Care Programmes and Polio Eradication Campaign. Keeping with the commitment of the college to deliver quality education, numerous Basic & Clinical Sciences Departments of Wah Medical College have initiated postgraduate fellowship training with CPSP accreditation.
Dr Areej Ahmad stood out as the Best Graduate for the session 2008-2013 with her glaring academic record of 09 Gold Medals, 02 Silver and 02 Bronze Medals besides numerous other awards for academic excellence. Dr. Sadaf Bhopal was proclaimed as the Best Graduate for academic session 2009-2014, with generous cheering by the audience for her meritorious achievement of 24 Gold Medals, 03 Silver and 02 Bronze Medals.
