LAHORE - Police have arrested one of the six gunmen who killed two passersby on Friday as they resorted to gunfire during street fight in Defense-A police precincts.
Two passersby - Shamim Bibi, 50, and Muhammad Yousaf, 55, sustained multiple bullet wounds in Iqbal Park on Friday night. They were rushed to a hospital but died on the way. The gunmen fled the crime scene. Investigators said that Usama and Arslan along with their four other accomplices opened gunfire outside the house of Kamran shortly after they exchanged harsh words over parking a motorcycle in the street. As a result, two passersby were killed.
The police have registered a double-murder case against Usama, Arslan, and their accomplices.
The senseless shooting sparked protests on the Defense Road yesterday as dozens of relatives of the victims blocked the road to demand arrest of the killers.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered the police capture the culprits. Further investigation is in process.
