Rawalpindi - A court yesterday remanded four accused of killing Shoaib Iqbal Raja, the nephew of ex-Law Minister Punjab Muhammad Basharat Raja, for two days. The four accused included Asad Mehmood Numberdar, a local PML-N leader from Dhamial, his father Janisar alias Saleem Numberdar, Adil Rehman Advocate and Raja Muhammad Umar Abbasi.

According to details, a police team produced the four murder accused before the court of District and Sessions Judge Khalid Dar and sought their physical remand. The judge gave the remand and directed investigators to reproduce the accused on December 14 for further proceedings of the case.

Talking to The Nation, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajid Gondal confirmed the development and said that police investigators had to produce the accused before the district and sessions judge because the judge of Anti-Terrorism Court is in Lahore to attend some official meeting. He said that on the next date of hearing police would produce them before the anti-terrorism court. He added that the prime murder accused Ikhlaq Numberdar was still on large and would be arrested soon.

Shoaib Iqbal Raja was shot dead allegedly by Ikhlaq Numberdar during a scuffle broke out in a polling station over some issue on December 5.
