QUETTA(Agencies): At least one soldier was killed and four others wounded including a passerby when a bomb exploded near Frontier Constabulary checkpost in Quetta on Saturday morning. The bomb, planted close to the FC checkpoint went off early Saturday when soldiers reached the site for daily duty in Quetta, senior police official Abdul Waheed Khattak said. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
“It was an IED (improvised explosive device) which exploded the moment soldiers reached the checkpoint,” Khattak said. He added the blast killed one soldier and wounded four others including a teenager passing the site. “(The) condition of another soldier is also critical,” Khattak said. Sajjad Ahmad, a senior official from FC, confirmed the attack and casualties.

DSP injured in Charsadda gun attack

CHARSADDA(INP): Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jahandad Khan belonging to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Peshawar police was injured by Taliban gunmen in Charsadda district on Saturday morning.
According to details, DSP Jahandad Khan was on his way to office when unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on him as the police officer’s vehicle neared Faqir Kali in Charsadda district.
Police and rescue personnel reached the spot on getting information. Officials said that bullets were sprayed on his vehicle. The attack gravely wounded the officer who was immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for medical assistance where his condition is said to be critical. Security personnel cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway, however, the attackers managed to escape from the scene after the attack.
