KARACHI - Two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants were killed in an encounter with police in Sohrab Goth area here on Saturday.

According to police, SSP Malir Rao Anwar along with heavy contingent on a tip off about the presence of several militants raided a hideout located near Ganna Mandi, Sohrab Goth. During the raid, the suspects resorted indiscriminate firing on the police and tried to escape.

In retaliation, the police personnel also fired back. During the exchange of fire, two militants died on the spot while their four accomplices managed the escape under the cover of firing.

SSP Rao Anwar said the deceased militants were identified as Abdullah aka Cobra and Amanullah. Abdullah was a hardcore TTP militant and was planning a terrorist activity on the occasion of December 16.

The bodies were sent to morgue for further medico-legal formalities.

Police claimed to have recovered weapons and explosives from them.

Separately, the Customs authorities conducted a raid and seized 40,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel. According to incharge Customs Intelligence Haji Aslam, the Customs Intelligence conducted a raid on a godown in the Yousug Goth area and seized 40,000 litres of diesel that had been smuggled from Iran. No arrests were made, however.
