KARACHI: Pakistan’s young base ball team failed to qualify for the semi-finals of Asian Under-12 Baseball Championship in China on Sunday.

According to a message received here, Japan beat Pakistan in the group match and booked the berth for semi-finals.

Chinese Taipei, China, Japan and South Korea have entered the semi-finals of the 9th Asian U12 Baseball Championship, a major international event promoting the sport among young people.

The championship, a major flagship event of the Baseball Federation of Asia, is being held in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, attracting about 150 young players from eight countries and regions.

Chinese Taipei, China, Japan and South Korea won their games over rivals Indonesia, Hong Kong, Pakistan and the Philippines, respectively, on Sunday.

The final of the championship that held every two years, will be played on Tuesday.
