ISLAMABAD: President District Bar Association of Islamabad (DBAI) Advocate Syed Mohammad Tayyab has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against the PIA aircraft crash few days ago near Havailian.
It has been contended in the petition that the innocent passengers have been left with no other option but to travel in the defective aircrafts.
ATR aircrafts have been grounded in most countries of the world but Pakistan has purchased said aircrafts surprisingly, the petition said.
It further said that the ATR aircrafts are highly un-reliable and un-safe in Hilly areas and in hard weather conditions. The ratio of accidents is very high in ATR aircrafts, the petition states.
The apex court has been requested to summon the record of purchasing of aircrafts along with the details of safety measures being taken by the PIA and Civil Aviation Authority for the safety of passengers.
The petition has been filed through senior advocate Dr Babar Awan.
