Series win to put Pakistan above Australia

KARACHI: Pakistan and Australian cricket teams will go head to head in a three-Test series in Brisbane on Thursday, with both the sides aiming for an upward movement.

Australia is currently ranked third with 105 points, while Pakistan is fourth with 102 points.

However, this position will potentially change when the ICC Test Team Rankings are updated following the Chennai Test. If second-ranked England wins the Test, then it will finish on 103 points, but it will end on 101 points if India wins the series 4-0.

Even if Pakistan beat Australia by 1-0 or 2-1 margin, it will jump to second spot behind India, who will bolster its hold at the top spot when the ranking will be updated at the end of its home Test series.

But even a drawn series will put Australia at second spot as England will fall behind the three at fourth spot if it draws or loses last Test in Chennai since India is leading the five-match Test series 3-0 after four matches.
