Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred televangelist Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain from television appearances in an interim order that came Wednesday.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique ruled that Dr Aamir Hussain cannot participate on any television programme in any capacity until an order is passed in a petition under hearing that accuses him of spreading hatred by misusing his influence as a religious scholar.

The other petition seeks a complete ban on the televangelist from using social media, telly appearances and usage of print media.

Hussain, a former state minister for religion affairs was earlier banned by Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Media Authority (Pemra) for his porgramme on a private telly channel.
