LAHORE Lahore Gymkhana won the championship trophy for the year 2010 in golf tournament held here at the short golf course of the Defence Club, DHA. The Defence Club has a short golf course of nine holes. This golf course is the only one of its kind in Pakistan. It is a very challenging course where even single handicap players falter. It was an inter club tournament and was sponsored by Pepsi International. The tournament was very closely contested by the leading players of Lahore. Brig Muhammad Aslam Rana, Administrator DHA Lahore was the chief guest who distributed the prizes amongst the winners. The championship trophy for the year 2010 was won by Lahore Gymkhana team comprising Shafique Bhatti, Mohsin Anwar, Mohsin Zafar and Danyal Jahangir. The runners-up trophy was won by Defence Club team comprising Col Akhlaq, Col Azhar Khawaja, Maj Warraich and Syed Eitezaz Hussain. The individual prize was claimed by international player Danyal Jahangir, second by Mohsin Zafar, third by Eitezaz, fourth by Col Akhlaq, fifth by Naseer Mirza and sixth by Col Azhar Khawaja. The ladies first prize was won by Mrs Shahnaz, second by Mika Butt and third to by Ayesha Aizaz. GP Capt Tayyub Siddiqui was the oldest member, playing both days 36 holes at the age of 82. He won a special prize.
