ISLAMABAD - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif late Friday evening met Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the Army House in Rawalpindi. Focus of the meeting was to devise stronger cooperation between the Punjab government and the Armed Forces especially on security related matters. Amongst the issues discussed were strengthening of elite police training, revival of Armed Services Boards, District Boards, streamlining joint projects already under way between FWO, NLC and the Punjab govt in the province, enhancing the security of the military and other sensitive installations in the Punjab. Apart from these routine issues of cooperation, the overall situation in the country especially relating to terrorism and other national problems also reportedly came under discussion during the meeting. Talking to media, Shahbaz Sharif said that after having training from the Army, the Punjab police would be in a better position to cope with the terrorism issue.
