LAHORE Punjab Parliamentary Health Secretary Dr Saeed Elahi has disclosed that the committee constituted to review problems of medics has completed its work and would submit recommendations to the chief minister within couple of days. Addressing a reception hosted by Young Doctors Association Punjab here at Fatima Jinnah Medical College on Saturday, he said that salary packages of doctors would be revised and made more attractive so that they prefer to serve ailing humanity in the country rather than going abroad. Fatima Jinnah Medical College Principal Prof Dr Rakhshanda, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Regional Director Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Allama Iqbal Medical College Principal Prof Javed Akram, representatives of YDA and a large number of doctors were also present. Dr Saeed said that mission of doctors was not to mint money but serving the humanity. He said that after 15 years, doctors were being recruited through Public Service Commission rather than on adhoc basis. He said that government was promoting merit and discouraging 'safarish culture at all levels. He said that the present regime regularised the services of more than 4,000 medical officers and 2,000 consultants. FJMC Principal Prof Dr Rakhshanda, AIMC Principal Prof Javed Akram, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal and representatives of YDA Dr Wasim also addressed the ceremony. Meanwhile, Punjab Health Department has decided to introduce Result Based Management system aiming at awarding officers/officials for good performance and taking action against inefficient and lethargic.
