ISLAMABAD -Aisam and Aqeel Khan kept Pakistan on track after winning their doubles match of the Davis Cup on Sunday against their opponents to give country 2-1 lead on the second day of the competitive action.

Pakistan now need to win one singles match from the remaining two games, to be held today (Monday). It is to worth mentioning here that despite using the delaying tactics by the Lebanon Tennis Federation in providing visas to Pakistan Davis Cup team, which were only made possible at the eleventh hour, after the intervention of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and tireless work of PTF President Kaleem Imam. The ongoing tie was very much alive after first day as both teams had won one match each, with Pakistan ace tennis player Aisam Ul Haq winning his singles match, and Pakistan number one player Aqeel Khan lost his singles match.

But to the credit of Pakistani pair Aisam/Aqeel, who beat the pair of Patrick Chukri/Bessam Bedas in four hard fought sets, Aisam and Aqeel won the tie 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (5) which lasted for 4 hours and 5 minutes.  Asiam also reached the historical landmark of representing Pakistan in his 50th Davis Cup match.

Meanwhile Pakistan Tennis Federation President Syed Kaleem Imam has lauded Pakistan Davis team efforts and send his best wishes to the team, he also praised Asiam for providing Pakistan team an upper hand in the tie and achieving a land mark of representing the country in his 50th Davis Cup match.
