CM inaugurates Model Town hockey ground

LAHORE (PR) – Chief Minister M Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government is pursuing a comprehensive programme for the promotion of sports and a network of sports grounds is being laid all over the province through which players of international level will he produced who will win the laurels for the country and the nation.
The Chief Minister also announced laying of Astroturf in the newly-constructed ground in Model Town. He was talking to mediamen after inaugurating hockey ground and gymnasium in Model Town today.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the sports play an important role for polishing the youth and government is taking all possible steps for promotion of sports activities in the province.
He said that a splendid project of making sports grounds from Rahim Yar Khan to Attock is continuing and establishment of hockey ground in Model Town is part of it. He said that besides provision of facilities for cricket, football, hockey, badminton, volleyball and other facilities, gymnasiums are also being constructed throughout the province.
He said that sitting arrangements for the hockey lovers will also be made soon. He said that hockey is our national sport and construction of such grounds of hockey will further promote this game.
Meanwhile, President of Pakistan Hockey Federation Qasim Zia said that chief mnister Punjab is taking personal interest in promotion of sports particularly hockey. The CM has also inaugurated Ittefaq Sports Complex in Model Town. He also distributed prizes among players after witnessing the hockey match. Later, he inaugurated gymnasium equipped with modern facilities including basketball ground and fitness centre.
