OKARA - Armed dacoits deprived citizens of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables in two separate strikes here the other day. As per reports, dacoits looted the passengers of Hujra-bound coach here.
Source said that the coach was looted near Darbar Kaley Shah on Kasur Road. The dacoits got away with cellphones, cash and other valuables worth amounting thousands of rupees. The police have launched investigation into the incident.
Separately in Okara robbers made off with gold ornaments, cellphones and a motorbike from the house of a local.
Reportedly, Mohammad Ali, a resident of Sujwar Sudhaar village was asleep when seven armed men broke into the house and held the family members hostage. The robbers decamped with valuables. Nobody was reported hurt. The police have registered case.
50-litre liquor seized, bootlegger held: In a raid on 1/SP village, police confiscated a distillery and 50-litre liquor and arrested the bootlegger.
Sources said the police have been tipped off about one Nasir Mohammad Nasir running a brewery in the village.
