quetta - A Hindu trader was kidnapped from Wadh Tehsil of Khuzdar district, about 360 kilometers from provincial capital on Sunday. According to an official of Balochistan Levies, the trader was identified as Sham Lal, a resident of Khuzdar, who was on his way alongwith his family from Khuzdar to Karachi in a car when a group of armed men intercepted him and abducted the trader at gun-point and dropped his family in the midway.

 ‘It could be a case of kidnapping for ransom’, an official said.

, adding, that Levies has launched an investigation in this connection.

A case has been registered against unknown persons.

Meanwhile, Hindu community in Khuzdar strongly condemned the kidnapping of members of Hindu community and held a shutter down strike against the incident.

They alleged that government had failed to provide them security and kidnapping of members of Hindu community had become a routine manner.

They warned that if the kidnapped Hindu trader was not recovered immediately they would prolong their protest and the administration would be responsible for the protest.
