The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday expressed distress over the indictment of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani by the Supreme Court (SC) on contempt of court in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.

Talking to media persons outside the apex court after the court indicted the PM, Kaira asserted that PM Gilani is not guilty and he will be vindicated in the court as well.

He said that it was for the first time in the history that the prime minister was indicted which was painful for the PPP. He said that the prime minister will implement the verdict of the court.

"We will appear in the court in next hearing given by the Supreme Court and defend stance of the government," Kaira said.

He said that he hoped that the prime minister would present his case before the court with firm evidences and records, adding that it would be proved in the court that the prime minister is not guilty.

Kaira said that Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is and will remain the prime minister in the country.

He said that PPP government was facing difficult time and was very hurt after the PM was indicted by the court on contempt of court case.
