PESHAWAR - A police check post got partially damaged when an explosive-laden motorbike exploded in Phase-II area of Hayatabad, Peshawar, on Sunday.

Sources said that the explosive-laden motorbike was parked by unknown militants nearby the police check post in Hayatabad, which was later exploded by remote control.  The high-intensity blast created panic and fear among the area residents.

The motorbike also shattered into pieces as a result of the powerful blast, however no police person was present inside or outside the check post.

Soon after the incident police rushed the blast site and cordoned off the area. According to bomb disposal squad around half kilogram explosive has been used in the attack.

The boundary wall of the check post also partially damaged as a result of the explosion.

Hayatabad police said that militants had parked their motorbike near the check post and later disappeared from the scene, however search operation is under way to identify the responsible elements.

It is worth mentioned here that it was second incident of terrorism in last 24 hour as earlier to this a remote control device planted in a Television was exploded in Sradargai area of FR Peshawar.
