LAHORE – Parts of the country including the City received rainfall of varying intensities on Sunday with experts predicting the prevailing conditions to persist during the next couple of days.

Overcast conditions, rains coupled with winds and snowfall over the hills caused decrease in the mercury level, increasing chill in weather in the day and during the night time.

In Lahore, rain and overcast conditions brought back bite in the weather by decreasing maximum and minimum temperature. Maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 19 degree Celsius and 4.4 C respectively.

Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 72 per cent which decreased to 52 per cent in the evening. Taking benefit from the holiday on Sunday, the Lahorites preferred to stay indoors to save themselves from harsh weather conditions. Low gas pressure, as usual, enhanced miseries of the Lahorites in most of the localities. The rains, though light, added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians. Slipper conditions of roads hampered smooth vehicular movement on a number of arteries.

According to the experts, a westerly wave lies over Balochistan. Local meteorological department has forecast cloudy weather with chances of rain for the City during the next 24 hours. Met office has forecast fairly widespread rain with snowfall over the hills for Khyber PK, upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places of Quetta, Zhob and Sahiwal divisions. Rains are also expected at isolated places of DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sibi and Kalat divisions.
