UNITED NATIONS - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday called for a dialogue between Pakistan and India to overcome the tensions in Indian-occupied Kashmir that have escalated following the weekend execution of Kashmiri activist Afzal Guru.

“We are following the developments closely,” the secretary-general’s spokesman, Martin Nesirky, said in reply to a question by a Pakistani correspondent on the worsening situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir at the regular noon briefing. He called for a dialogue to ease the present tensions and overcome the difficulties in the way of settling the issue.
