LAHORE – Punjab PPP Central President, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo on Tuesday supported Ahmad Mukhtar for contesting elections in Gujrat, a political hub of the Chaudhrys of PML-Q where they have also announced to field their candidates despite seat adjustment with the PPP.
While talking to media persons after party meeting here Tuesday, Manzoor Wattoo said that the incumbent Federal Minister Ahmad Mukhtar enjoys a good position to win election on behalf of the PPP in Gujrat. “We cannot deny contest to our potential candidate,” he said.
To a question, he said that the advantage of getting PPP vote could come to the PML-Q, if it contests the next elections on the ‘arrow’ election symbol. He said that the PPP and the PML-Q have decided in principle to field their candidates in the constituencies where they had won seat in the last elections. However he said it had yet to be decided which party would field the candidates in the constituencies where the PML-N had returned to parliament. “Decision on this issue will be taken soon,” he added.
To a question, he said, President Zardari could go to Raiwind to condole with Nawaz Sharif the death of his younger brother Abbas Sharif.
