PESHAWAR - In order to bring transparency and curb corruption in Custom Department, Model Custom Collectorate Peshawar launched Web based One Customs (WeBOC) unit at Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar here on Tuesday.

Member of customs in Federal Board of Revenue Mohammad Riaz was the chief guest on the occasion, who launched the opening ceremony of the Computerized Customs clearance web, based one custom module at Bacha Khan International Airport. Beside other, Zulfiqar A Kazmi Collector, Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar and Assistant Collector Asfandyar Khan were also present on the occasion.

Highlighting the objectives of Web based customs member of custom in Federal Board of Revenue, Mohammad Riaz said that this system has the quality of being user friendly and accessible to all the stakeholders to provide smooth and trouble free customs clearance facility.

He said that it was the first module for the customs clearance at the Airport being launched at the Airport and it now would enable this Collectorate to handle its export as well as import at the Air Cargo Unit on this new Computerised Clearance System.

He added that this model Customs Collectorate Peshawar is the second largest Collectorate in respect of handling exports worth two billion dollars annually. He said the Required training have been provided through Video Conferencing to all the stakeholders including clearing agents, Airline Staff Custom Customs official and all those who were eager to use the system by obtaining their user IDs.

He said that the new module (unit) would help in efficient deployment of resources, minimizing clearance time at airports. He informed that this is a paperless and single window customs operation, reduced cost of doing business and lowering clearing/ handling charges.

He also emphasised that this system would go a long way in ensuring better cash flows transparency and integrity, correct revenue realization, cargo information, online manifest filing and many other features.

After addressing the ceremony, he formally inaugurated the facilitation centre was clicked the computer option to process the Goods Declaration form in WEBOC System for the first time in the presence of relevant personnel.

At the end of the ceremony Dr Zulfiqar A, Kazmi Collector Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar thanked all the participants and assigned the stakeholders to continue extending its all out support to make this system more effective to serve the trade properly and also make themselves more familiar with WeBOC to resolve their day to day problems.
