ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to put its property on auction in various foreign countries including Dubai, UK, USA and Canada. A high level meeting in this regard was held here on Monday with Chairman CDA Tariq Mehmood Khan in chair. Member (Finance) Saeed-ur-Rehman briefed the meeting on CDA's participation in Expo-2008, held in Karachi and on CDA's future plan for auctioning plots in various cities of the country and abroad. Member (Planning and Design) Syed Tanvir Bukhari, Member (Estate) Brig (R) Asad Munir and other high officials of the Authority were also present on the occasion. Tariq, while speaking on the occasion, directed relevant officials to chalk out a comprehensive plan for putting CDA's land on auction in Karachi, Lahore, Dubai, London and New York. He said participating in property expos in various cities of the country and other parts of the world would help attract investors from abroad. It is pertinent to mention here that CDA's bid to auction some of its valuable plots in November, last year, had proved a total failure. Though agro farms had been booked for much higher prices than ever, but no one had taken interest in the commercial plots offered in the said auction. It has been learnt that the Authority would go for auctioning more plots in February to overcome the prevailing financial crunch in the civic agency. Chairman CDA further directed to ensure maximum participation of overseas Pakistanis in auctions to be held abroad. He directed for establishing a separate desk in One Window Operations' Directorate for information and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis. Information regarding auctioning of plots should be launched on CDA's website to further facilitate overseas Pakistanis, Tariq asked the concerned officials. The meeting also decided to induct fresh talent in CDA's directorate of Estate Management so that sale, purchase and transfer of land is made easy and transparent.
