LAHORE - Having the services of brilliant ICC Elite Umpires Asad Rauf and Aleem Dar, Ashiq Qureshi-led Lahore Whites manage to beat Lahore Polo CC by 20 runs in a tense Challenge match at Race Course Ground, Jail Road. Ashiq Qureshi praised the batting of Asad and Rauf who are among the eleven umpires from Elite Panel of ICC Umpires - a panel of cricket umpires appointed by the International Cricket Council to officiate in Test matches and One Day Internationals around the world. "The majority of ICC appointments are fulfilled by the members of the Elite Panel, who are thought to be the best umpires in the world and I am proud of Lahore that the city has produced two high-profile umpires who turned up at Race Course Ground to show batting style they used to occupy in their hey days," added Ashiq who is also Pakistan Veteran Cricket Association (PVCA)s Chief Executive Officer . .Lahore Whites piled up 216-6 with Aleem and Asad getting 59 and 35 respectively with their fluent strokes all round the wicket. Other contributors were Dr. Khalid 36, Nadeem Ahmed 22, Mian Mansoor Ahmed 30,Tariq 15. Junaid took 3-56 and Khalid 2-49. Lahore Polo CC made 196 in reply. Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana 40, Khalid Javed 46, Imran Malik 39, Adnan Jalil 35, Shah Alam 25. Haider Bukhari took 3-12, Ashiq Qureshi 2-20, Aleem Dar 2-25, Mian Mansoor 1-49 and Tariq 2-35 were sucessful bowlers. The umpires were Nadeem Zafar, Sagheer Ahmed with Hashim Saeed being scorer. Later on Ashiq Qureshi gave Haider Bukhari Man of the Match Award.
