'Pakistan Khappay, the slogan, has lost even its clich value after the mock-seditious speeches of the PPP ministers from Sindh and Punjab. They took upon themselves to play the Sindh card after the SC judgement on NRO. Having seen it fall flat on its back, now they are trying to play another card called 'resolutions of confidence from assemblies. That is why three provincial assemblies have expressed confidence in Mr Zardari. Whether the move is constitutionally warranted or not is not the point here. Its a strategic move. You might want to ask the (academic) question of which Pakistan the PPP saved through the almighty cry of 'Pakistan khappay. The answer is they were able to establish virtually one-party rule of PPP by uniting a whole cartel of the meanest opportunists in Pakistan in a coalition government. And they have been able to save that government when it was in danger of falling by again saying 'khappay. -NOORUDIN, Paris, January 10
