KARACHI - The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution in support of Asif Ali Zardaris dual office and reposed its confidence in his leadership as the President of Pakistan as well as Co-Chairman of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. The significance of the Sindh Assemblys resolution is more valuable at a time when hearings in petitions filed against Zardaris dual office are under process in Lahore and Sindh High Courts. The Sindh Assembly session commenced at 10:15 a.m. with Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in chair. The lawmakers of treasury and opposition benches condemned the murder of Justice Javed Iqbals parents who were found dead in their house in Lahore on Tuesday. After the question-hour session, Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro urged the Chair to allow him tabling a resolution out of turn, which was granted by the House. According to the resolution moved by Law Minister of PPP, This House resolves to show its fullest confidence and trust in the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, who was elected by securing 481 votes (71 per cent of the electoral college) from the four provincial assemblies, Senate and the National Assembly of Pakistan. This House appreciates his efforts for furtherance of democracy and strengthening of Pakistan. Speaking in support of resolution, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that this House always followed political wisdom, sagacity and reconciliation, which was clear from the contents of the resolution. He pointed out that there was healthy opposition in the Sindh Assembly, but on Sindhs right they were united, which was because of reconciliation policy given by President Asif Ali Zardari.
