LAKKI MARWAT - Some portions of hujra of an ANP leader and former nazim Johar Muhammad, advocate, were damaged in a blast in Dallokhel, a village situated in the outskirts of Lakki Marwat, on late Wednesday night.

An official source said that home made explosive devise planted by unknown miscreants along the wall of former nazim’s hujra went off with a big bang at late night. “The explosion was heard in Lakki city and adjacent villages. It created a panic among the area residents,” he said, adding that it caused damage to the boundary wall and shattered the windows and doors of guestroom’s building. The source said that no human loss was reported as the former nazim who was also a member of Lakki Marwat Bar Association and his family members or guests were not present in the hujra at the time of explosion. Police registered a case against unknown miscreants and started investigation.

Meanwhile, the Lakki Marwat bar association observed strike on Thursday in protest against targeting of Johar Muhammad’s hujra with bomb blast by saboteurs. The lawyers did not appear in the courts in connection with cases for one hour as mark of token strike against the explosion.

In a meeting held under the chair of bar president advocate Naimatullah Khan Khoidadkhel the lawyers’ fraternity condemned the incident and demanded of the government to provide protection to the members of their community.

They also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Gomal University DI Khan Law College Principal Abdul Malik who died of cardiac arrest the other day. The participants offered fateha for the deceased and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest his departed soul in eternal peace.  They also expressed sympathies with the members of bereaved family.

Imam Hussain (RA) Chehlum observed: Amid tight security, the Chelum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) was observed with religious fervour in Lakki city on Thursday.

Following the directives of DPO Gulzar Ali Khan, police made foolproof security arrangements for the Chelum. Besides setting up makeshift checkpoints in the urban locality a good number of cops were deployed in Mohallah Sayyedaan and on the routes of process to provide a complete security cover to the mourners.

The mourners took out a procession from Mohallah Sayyedaan and after passing from traditional routes it ended at Imambargah.

Area peace committee members also assisted local police to maintain peace and tranquillity on the occasion.
