N bigwig speaks up for Bahawalpur province


AHMEDPUR EAST - Political Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab MNA Eng Balighur Rehman said that he was only legislator, out of total 16 lawmakers hailing from Bahawalpur region, who presented restoration of Bahawlpur province case in the recent debate held in the National Assembly.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that he was the only PML-N office-bearer who had raised a voice also in party meetings even in those days when no one dared to do it. He said that his late father former MNA Seth Aqeelur Rehman and other elders of his family had played a key role in the Bahawalpur province movement in 1970.
“My maternal uncle late Makhdoom Noor Muhammad Hashmi, a former MNA from Rahim Yar Khan, had not signed on 1973 Pakistan constitution as a mark of protest for not declaring Bahawalpur province by late ZA Bhutto regime,” he added.
The political assistant to the chief minister reiterated that he would fully oppose the creation of new provinces on  linguistic basis and pledged not to allow Prime Minister Gilani to spread linguistic hatred in former Bahawalpur province. However, he supported the demand of creation of new provinces on administrative basis as proposed by PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif.
PPP local leader nephew joins PTI: Advocate Kamran Khan, nephew of senior PPP leader Akbar Khan and Ms Rubi Aftab daughter of prominent local physician Dr Malik Yahya have announced joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  here the other day. They made the announcement at a press conference. They reposed confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan.PTI District Vice President Muhammad Munir Malik was also present on the occasion.
PTI LEADER DUE TODAY: Tehreek-e-Insaf Youth Wing Punjab President Mohammad Madni will arrive here on Friday (today).
He will be given an arousing reception at Chowk Abbasia, said PTI District Vice President Tariq Iqbal Chaudhry in a press release issued here on Thursday.
