KARACHI  - Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum (PABF) will be established to promote bilateral trade and investment during the forthcoming visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Azerbaijan which is expected shortly.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Republic of Azerbaijan Dashgin Shikarov while talking to President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Mian Abrar Ahmad.
"Azerbaijan has strict visa regime for countries worldwide however for the citizens of Pakistan and Turkey, our visa policy is open", he added.
According to KCCI here Thursday, Shikarov said that Chamber's recommendations will be treated as adequate requirement for issuance of business visas and invited Mian Abrar to take a business delegation to Azerbaijan for promoting bilateral trade and investment.
He informed about the possibility of investment in the oil and gas exploration sector and electricity export to Pakistan. He also pointed out the potential of joint ventures in pharmaceutical and manufacturing of surgical goods and sought KCCI's proposals on bilateral trade prospects.
Pakistan, he said, can export its value-added agricultural products like mangoes, dates, fruits, sports and surgical goods to Azerbiajan. "Pakistan's basmati rice has a huge demand in Azerbaijan, he added.
He said that Azerbaijan has a liberal investment policy and Pakistani can invest there. He pointed out that Azerbaijan has a strong industrial base and textile industry.
KCCI president invited Azerbaijani businessmen to invest in the oil and gas exploration sector in Pakistan and explore trade possibilities in agricultural value-added products.
Azerbaijan, by taking advantage of geo-strategic locations of Pakistan, can export their consignments through Gwadar and other ports of Karachi to SAARC, ASEAN and GCC countries, said KCCI president while exchanging his views.
Mian Abrar noted that economic relations between Central Asian Republics and SAARC countries will be a win-win situation and bring economic revolution in the region. He said KCCI was committed to bridge together the business communities of regional countries with a vision to establish joint chambers.
He also requested the Ambassador to invite exhibitors to participate in My-Karachi Oasis of Harmony exhibition of KCCI scheduled to be organized in July 2012.
