KARACHI - The dollar recorded strength against the rupee in the interbank market on Thursday, dealers said. It initiated the day’s trading at Rs 89.98 for buying, gained 26 paisas and closed at Rs 90.24 for buying and Rs 90.29 for selling.

The European currency increased against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 114.91 for buying, rose three paisas and closed at Rs 114.94 for buying and Rs 115.14 for selling. The British pound witnessed loss in its value against local currency. It began the day’s trading at Rs 139.1 for buying, lost 71 paisas and closed at Rs 138.39 for buying and Rs 138.59 for selling.

In the open market, the dollar witnessed growth against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 90.5, gained 20 paisas and closed at Rs 90.7 for buying and Rs 91.2 for selling. The Euro depreciated against local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 115.5, slumped 20 paisas and closed at Rs 115.3 for buying and Rs 118 for selling.

The British currency recorded loss against the rupee. It began the day’s trading at Rs 140.2, fell 90 paisas and closed at Rs 139.3 for buying and Rs 141.2 for selling.
