SHERGARH - A team consisting of revenue, police and TMA officials led by Depalpur Assistant Commissioner, retrieved 30 acres of state land from the land grabbers in Chak 38/D, a village 4-km south of Tehsil Headquarters Depalpur.
The land had been earmarked for Jinnah Abadi Scheme in the year 1996 but the scheme could not be accomplished as the Lahore High Court stayed the allotment proceedings by the administration. In the meanwhile, the people had illegally occupied the land and cultivated crops and erected structures over it. The land grabbers were warned several times against the occupation of the state land by the administration and asked to voluntarily vacate it but they kept on illegally occupying the land. Depalpur Assistant Commissioner issued orders under section 32 and 34 of the Colonization of the Government Lands Act, 1912 and the revenue, police and TMA officials ploughed crops and demolished the structures on the state land in a joint operation and retrieved it.
Depalpur Assistant Commissioner Suhaib Iqbal, Tehsildar Malik Muhammad Afzal, Naib-Tehsildar Azhar Hassan Chaudhry, SHO City Muhammad Yousaf, TMA Cheif Officer Muhammad Nawaz along with other staff of the three departments were present on the occasion.
