GUJRANWALA - Transporters staged a demonstration here as the district administration has seized about 60 coasters and vans from the Sialkot Road and General Bus Stand areas to stop the long march of Dr Tahirul Qadir, it is learnt. However, sources revealed, the Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran’s local chapter has made arrangements and hired six cranes to remove containers placed on the march rout. The transporters expressed their apprehension over the administration’s action against the vehicles.

Rustum, a transporter, told TheNation that their vehicles had been seized “wrongly” saying that their vehicular documents were not complete. He said, “We have apprehensions regarding the safety of our vehicles. We are workers and leave our houses to earn a living for our children. Amid the gas and petrol crises continued for the last 20 days, now our vehicles have been seized adding to our sufferings.”

On the other side, government officials claimed that the vehicles had been seized because of incomplete documents and not for disrupting the long march.
