LARKANA – Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed visited different parts of the province including Kamber-Shahdadkot, Larkana, and Jacobabad to review the measles vaccination campaign that completed after targeting 2.9 million children in eight districts.

The measles death toll reached 377 in Sindh with 14 children died in different districts on Saturday. Over the Health Departments failure to tackle the deadly measles and pressure from the WHO, the Health Minister started visits throughout province where measles continued claiming children’s lives.

According to details, at least 30 children died only in Larkana, while the cases are still being reported from Jacoabad, Kashmore at Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Noshehroferoz, Khairpur and other parts of province.

In an emergency response to the measles outbreak, the campaign was planned upto 11th Jan, 2013 for eight districts of Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Qamber-Shadadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki and Kashmore.

‘BALOCHISTAN GOVT MUST QUIT AFTER BLASTS’: Former federal Minister MNA Shahid Hussain Bhutto has expressed dissatisfaction over law and order situation in Balochistan, demanding the Balochistan authorities to redress the issues of people protesting with 86 dead bodies after blast in Quetta.

Talking to this scribe, MNA Shahid Bhutto warned the Baluchistan government to immediately take steps to protect the citizens and arrest the culprits otherwise he will protest along with the citizens in Quetta. Condemning the Baluchistan government, he said that the uncertainty prevailed in Baluchistan and the government had failed to protect the lives of its citizen.

The Minister said that the internal matters of Baluchistan should be given top priority to resolve the issues, adding that the Baluchistan government should resign if it can not protect the lives and properties of people.

Commenting on long march, he said that the long march can not derail the democratic system and the government will complete its five year term by making a new political history.

He said the PPP was following the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to serve the poor people without any discrimination and will also win the upcoming general elections with majority.
