Politics best way to serve society, says Begum Pervaiz Elahi

Late Shahana Farooqui paid rich tributes

LAHORE  - Begum Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, in her presidential address at a condolence reference for Shahana Farooqui at Muslim League House, said on Sunday politics was the best way to serve society and the late Muslim League leader gave the best practical example through her political career.
Condolence reference was also addressed by Begum Bushra Rahman, Begum Attiya Inayatullah, Prof Parveen Butt, Syeda Majid Zaidi and other women leaders who paid rich tributes to Farooqui for her meritorious services.
Begum Pervaiz Elahi said late Farooqui had always remained helpful to them in political matters. “She was a courageous woman; it is hard to believe that she has left us for heavens so early. We should pray for her departed soul from our hearts and if anyone was hurt by her unintentionally she should be forgiven for that.”
She said she had met with Shahana Farooqui for the first time in 1984 in Gujrat and this association continued till she breathed her last. “She was a God-fearing and sympathetic, and a woman of sound character.”
Well-known writer and columnist Begum Bushra Rahman said she had a long association with late Farooqui. “We had travelled together; she was a very civilized and soft-spoken woman. She asked Farooqui's daughter Khadeeja Farooqui to collect and write a book about her mother's memoirs.
Begum Attiya Inayatullah paid tributes to Farooqui for her services top PML Punjab women wing.
Prof Qariya Parveen Butt said she had the privilege of performing Hajj with Farooqui and she paid special attention to teaching of the holy Quran to her daughters. It was because of her that a number of schools were upgraded in Gujrat, she added. 
Syeda Majida Zaidi, while paying tributes to late Farooqui, said she was like mother to her and she always got guidance from her.
PML leader Amna Ulfat said late Farooqui was a responsible mother, the best politician and a faithful woman leader; she honoured her association with the Chaudhry family till she breathed her last.
Student of Jamia Naeemiya recited Naat at the condolence refence. Those present at the reference included Mohtarma Kishwar Sahib, MPAs Basima Riaz Chaudhry and Jayeda Khan, Seema Kamran, Shazia Chand, Lubna Tariq, Shabnam Chaudhary, Kanwal Naseem, Razia Saifullah, Fazeelat Chaudhry, Shahbaz Kalsoom, Nasrin Warraich, Rukhsana Mehr, Fakhra Khan, Begum Hamid Rana, Nazia Hussain, Rubeena, Tamkeen Aftab, Aziza Saeed, Nadira Afzal Wattoo, Sajida Mubarak, Rukhsana Noor, Sabira Sultana, Ramzana Ashiq and Bushra Hazeen.
