LAHORE  - A 40-year-old man died, shortly after falling from the elevator in a multi-storey commercial plaza located at Jail Road, police sources said on Monday.
Identified as Muhammad Akram, the deceased was going to the top floor of the Land Mark Plaza through the elevator when, all of a sudden, he fell from the moving lift.
The police have arrested the lift-operator, Sarfraz, and are investigating. A police official said that the door of the elevator was open when the accident took place.
Meanwhile, a vendor attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze to protest against the anti-encroachment campaign of the city district government in Anarkali bazaar.
Zeeshan set himself on fire in protest after the city district government officials took away his roadside stall. The fish seller was rushed to the Mayo hospital with multiple burns.
