KANGANPUR - Six unidentified dacoits deprived a man of cash, cellphone and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees here in the limits of Kanganpur Police.

According to details, Saeed Dogar, a resident of village Dhudian was coming from Kanganpur on motorbike. As he reached near village Atari, six armed dacoits intercepted him and robbed of cash, amounting to thousands of rupees, cellphone and other valuables.

Following the incident, shopkeepers and citizens made a protest against local police and blocked main road by burning tyres against the rising robberies. They chanted slogans against police and demanded the DPO to direct measures to rein in criminals.

On the occasion, Pesticide Association President Nadeem Baig and Workshops Association President Hassan Wattoo told to The Nation that shops of Munawar, Sarwar, Tanveer Goga, Niazi, Sajid computers, Ishfaq, Hammad Umar, Ghulam Nabi and Shabir Shah had been looted over the past 10 days but the local police failed to register FIRs and trace the culprits.
