Rawalpindi - In a bid to control law and order in four districts of Rawalpindi division, Rawalpindi police have decided to form properly trained and equipped Anti-Riot Unit (ARU).
A police spokesman yesterday said that Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has given final approval for the formation of ARU in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal to tackle any emergency and law and order situation.
He said that the reserved police force in police lines is not skilled in dealing with mob or any emergency situation, therefore, the RPO decided to form ARU. The paper work has been started for inserting the names of the cops and it would be completed in three days, he added. He said that the names of cops including sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables and constables have been finalised and they all would also be sent to Sihala Police College for a two weeks training.

“After completing the training, the cops would be deputed in their respective districts where they would perform duties in shifts,” he said.
Meanwhile, the promotion board meeting was held at RPO Office. The meeting was chaired by RPO while attended by CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi and four DPOs. The meeting was convened for discussing the promotion cases of head constables, temporary clerks and class-IV employees. Later, the crime situation in division was also reviewed.
The RPO ordered police to intensify search operations to purge the division of suspects and terrorists. He also ordered to enhance police patrolling to curb the street crimes in the region.
