A gang of dacoits looted cash and grocery items worth millions of rupees from the warehouse of Utility Stores Corporation in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to security guards of the warehouse, almost 20 dacoits reached the warehouse located at Sarbhori area near Abu Dahbi Road on a truck. They held the security guard and other staff hostage. The dacoits collected cash and loaded grocery items worth Rs30 to 40 million onto the truck and drove off towards an unknown location. Later, the security guard and staff members managed to let themselves loose and informed the police. However, according to the guard, the police arrived at the scene two hours after the incident. The police have registered a case on the application of the warehouse in-charge and started investigation.

According to local residents, the Utility Stores Corporation has established the warehouse in the suburbs where theft and robbery incidents are common.
