LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government has brought about a revolution of prosperity in the lives of the masses by launching mega projects worth billions of rupees for them.

“Public resources are being spent transparently on infrastructure for the masses. The PML-N government has always given top priority to national development. Different schemes are being completed speedily to bring prosperity in the country,” the chief minister said while talking to members of the parliament who called on him here on Friday.

The chief minister said the government was moving ahead keeping the national interest in mind to make the country stronger, safer and prosperous. To that end, he said, PML-N government’s policies are revolving around welfare of the masses and not of the classes. Cherishing personal interests at the cost of the national ones is detrimental to the country, he said, laying stress on unity to take the country ahead.

The chief minister said the nation wants quality health and education facilities, peace and development. “We shall speedily continue the journey of development without wasting any moment because public service is our mission that will continue forever,” he said.

The chief minister reiterated that serving the masses is his commitment and all possible efforts are being made to fulfill this core agenda. He said that elements involved in undue criticism of public welfare projects are enemies of public welfare because those creating hurdles in public welfare projects could not tolerate prosperity of the poor. “Those who were boasting of the so-called revolution are actually deceiving the nation. How will they face people because the nation shall not forget the elements that told lies, levelled allegations and took U-turns during the last four-and-a-half years? In fact, people will totally reject in next elections those who remained engrossed in negative politics and raised hollow slogans,” he added.

Shehbaz said the PML-N government had served people dedicatedly and targets of development had been achieved in many sectors. He impressed upon the elected representatives to keep a close and continuous liaison with people and problems of the masses should be proactively solved. Similarly, he said elected representatives should play their role in timely completion of development projects. “No stone should be left unturned to solve people’s problems in their areas,” he said.  Those who called on the chief minister included Lt-Col (R) Shujaat Ahmed Khan, Naeem Gull, Mehr Khalid Mehmood Sargana, Qazi Adnan Farid, Syed Iftikharul Hassan, Karam Elahi Bandial and Shoaib Awaisi.
