Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: The National Accountability Bureau has arrested 15 proclaimed offenders in the last three months after the anti-graft body chief ordered regional bureaus to strictly adhere to across-the-board accountability, said a statement issued here on Friday.
According to the statement, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has issued directives to the regional bureaus to arrest the proclaimed offenders, absconders and the corrupt so that the country could be put on the road to progress and prosperity.
The NAB has ensured the return of the looted money of the victims of nine housing societies in the last three months, it said.
Likewise, the NAB chief has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority, the Capital Development Authority and the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration to submit details of private and cooperative housing societies besides displaying their particulars on their respective websites. “The details of illegal housing societies must be advertised in newspapers in order to aware the people of illegal societies so that they should be cautioned against investing in illegal schemes,” said the statement.
The NAB chairman has also sought details of allowing such housing societies without completion of all legal formalities. “Why relevant regularities remained silent over plundering of billions of hard earned money of innocent people who invested in various societies which were not legal. NAB should be provided details of all such plundering of illegal housing societies so that action could be taken against the culprits involved in allowing such fake and illegal housing societies in twin cities,” it said.
Meanwhile, the NAB chief has ordered a probe into against alleged corruption and unabated wastage of resources by Pakistan Cricket Control Board, Pakistan Hockey Federation and Pakistan Sports Board as pointed out by audit and ordered submission of a report within three months.
