NATCO northern areas transport corporation has lost its utility as the loss increased manifolds. The Gilgit Baltistan Government is providing hundred million annually to Natco for its survival. Overstaffing and bad governance has made the entity a sick organization. Political interference has ruined it, and still, interference is at peak. NATCO needs 300 employees whereas it has 1200 employees who are overburden with the organization.

Regular appointment of MD is also required on merit. The best remedy is privatization so it could be run in a better way. Presently, Natco has a fleet of transport of more than 70, and most of the vehicles are very old and have lost utility.

The recent acceptance of wheat transportation on lower rates has also added a loss to the NATCO.
