LAHORE - The citizens held Wasa responsible for its acute failure in tackling the situation on a war-footing during first monsoon downpour. They said that the Saturday's rain had exposed the civic organization's performance and preparation to provide emergency relief as the local residents themselves pulled out rainwater from their houses and localities. The rainwater remained accumulated in some localities of the City for hours and no representatives of Wasa or other civic organisations were seen there to drain out water, the citizens further criticised. "The city government's tall claims of having a solid infrastructure in place has been exposed by just one heavy rainfall", a resident of Mozang area said. "Where are the new schemes of Wasa and CDG's other departments to replace the rusty and old drainage system or pipes of the provincial capital", he said, adding that these are nothing but the tall and hollow claims to satisfy the higher authority.
